Thunderbolt 2 G-Speed RAID delivers 4k-compatible speed with hard drives
Storage manufacturer G-Technology today announced the latest additions in its Evolution Series family -- the G-Drive EV SSD and the 500GB G-Drive EV external drive modules. Also released are the four-bay Thunderbolt 2 G-Speed Studio with hardware RAID, and the two-bay G-Speed RAID Studio.
The G-Drive EV SSD is 512GB, and has up to 400MB per second transfer over USB 3.0, but up to 480MB per second when paired with the G-Dock EV with Thunderbolt. The 512GB G-Drive EV SSD will be available in April, and can be purchased for $500.
The G-Drive EV 500GB has speeds up to 125MB per second through USB 3.0. The conventional model wil ship in April and will retail for $100.
The G-Speed Studio with hardware RAID is a four-bay Thunderbolt 2 storage solution that supports user selectable RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10. With its built-in RAID controller, the unit boasts sustained transfer rates of up to 660MB per second in RAID 0 and can be daisy-chained via dual Thunderbolt 2 ports. The device ships with four removable enterprise-class hard drives. The G-Speed Studio with enterprise-class hardware RAID will be available in May for $3,600 for 24TB, $2,700 for 16TB and $2,200 for 12TB.
The G-RAID Studio is a high-performance storage system with hardware RAID. User-selectable in RAID 0, RAID 1 or JBOD, the G-RAID Studio features Thunderbolt 2 and has transfer rates up to 360MB per second. The G-RAID Studio will be available in May for $1,300 for 12TB, $850 for 8TB and $700 for 6TB.
