Twitter reveals new profile pages with pinned tweets, larger images

New content-focused Twitter profile pages add post filtering options

Twitter has unveiled its upcoming changes to profile pages, a change that first surfaced in February. Bearing a passing resemblance to Facebook profiles, all user profile pages will receive an update that overhauls the layout of the page, providing larger profile photographs and putting a greater focus and control on the account's more popular tweets and images.

Accounts will receive larger header images and profile photographs, as part of a much wider site design. One tweet can be pinned to the top of the feed, making it the first post visitors will see, while tweets with high levels of engagement will appear in a slightly larger font to make them more prominent. The feed also introduces more filtering options, with visitors able to view all tweets, tweets with photos or videos, tweets and replies.

Twitter states it will be rolling out the new interface to a "small group of users" today, with other accounts seeing the update in the coming weeks. New accounts will get the updated pages straight away.
