Sony announces upcoming massive multiplayer game to launch in next 4-6 weeks

Sony has announced the upcoming release of a new massive multiplayer survival zombie game, based on an Internet hoax from 2009. Entitled H1Z1, the game plays off of a hoax that claimed that the "swine flu" virus, H1N1, has mutated into the cause of a phenomenon that turns the dead into zombies. Set 15 years after the virus first affects people, Sony's emphasis will be on player ownership and building a variety of objects, including weaponry and houses. H1Z1 will be made available on Steam's Early Access for $20, though beyond the 4-6 week estimate there is currently no official release date for the game.

The system utilized will offer comparable connection speeds to mobile broadband services available on the ground. Cellular phone usage will still not be permitted.
