updated 01:37 pm EDT, Fri April 11, 2014

Up to 384TB addressable with maximum expansion

Accessory and peripheral vendor OWC has announced an enterprise-class storage solution with the new rack-mounted OWC Jupiter Kore and OWC Jupiter Callisto. OWC Jupiter Callisto provides storage for multi-user environments via Ethernet, while OWC Jupiter Kore is a Mini-SAS direct-connect storage system. Both are available in 8-bay or 16-bay models, for up to 384TB of storage with three Jupiter Kore Expander Rack systems.

The OWC Jupiter Callisto has file-level access through CIFS/SMB, AFP, and NFS. Connectivity is provided by 10GBase-T, with backwards compatibility to Gigabit Ethernet. Callisto also has IP-based remote management software, allowing admins to configure storage; manage users and permissions; manage storage reallocation and expansion; and monitor system health.

The OWC Jupiter Kore Mini-SAS connected JBOD storage system can be used as stand-alone, Direct Attached Storage (DAS) or for expanding existing RAID systems, such as the OWC Jupiter Callisto. The device has a pair of Mini-SAS ports, allowing up to 48Gb per second total unit bandwidth. RAID is possible through Thunderbolt or PCIe RAID controller.

Jupiter Kore systems are available today, ranging in price from $3,288 to $17,488 depending on capacity and installed storage options. Jupiter Callisto prices run from $4,988 for 16TB in a 8-bay system, to $20,888 for a 96TB configuration with 16 bays.
