WordPress announces debut of Version 3.9, refines blog management tool
Today WordPress.org announced an update to its blog management tool of the same name. Aiming to provides its users with a clearer understanding of how content will appear once published, WordPress v3.9.0 features improved editing. Its new visual editor includes increased speed, accessibility, and mobile support. Speedier access to crop and rotation tools allows for faster image editing, and images can now be uploaded by dragging and dropping from one's desktop to the editor.
WordPress' new gallery previews display a grid of images within the editor, and media clips now have playlists. Themes are now viewable by way of the new theme browser. Codenamed "Smith" in honour of jazz organist Jimmy Smith, version 3.9.0 of WordPress is available for download or update in one's WordPress dashboard.
Google revises Android camera app
Google has released an update for its Google Camera app to the Google Play Store, offering a new interface and additional features. Now including its PhotoSphere 360-degree panorama feature with more devices, the update adds a simulated depth-of-field mode that allows its users to take a picture of the subject, then move the the camera upward to capture from a second angle.
Google Camera's new interface concentrates on gesture-based commands, with a right swipe accessing mode selection, and a left swipe displaying the camera roll. Camera control icons and the shutter button are now more easily accessible. Available for devices running KitKat (Android OS v4.4), Google Camera is available for download through Google Play.
