Apple patches major privacy vulnerability in Developer Center

Flaw exposed personal contact information

Apple has patched a serious vulnerability in its Developer Center portal that revealed the personal contact information of many developers, a report notes. 9to5Mac says it was tipped off to the issue on Saturday, when developer Jesse Järvi sent an email explaining the problem and using contact information as proof. The site then reached out to Apple, which appears to have fixed the glitch during downtime on Sunday night. News of the situation was deliberately withheld until now.

The trouble is said to be connected to Radar, a utility Apple workers use to manage bug reports. While the app is only supposed to be usable by people with Apple IDs verified as belonging to internal staff, until now entering an invalid ID would leave some functions active, including the ability to look up contacts.

Apple is expected to issue a statement on the bug in the near future.
