Action cam uses 20 megapixel, CMOS image sensor to capture 1080p footage

Pyle Audio, a company known for stereo components and pro audio tools, has introduced a new action camera into their consumer photo lineup. The eXpo Hi-Speed HD action camera captures 20 megapixel images through a sensor featuring CMOS image sensor technology.

The camera shoots at 25, 30, 50 or 60 frames per second in either 720p or 1080p resolutions. Images can be stepped down to 14 or five megapixels, but can be shot at a maximum of 4283x3288. Other video modes include 480p, 960p and 1080i. Thanks to the CMOS sensor, it can also operate at different ISO settings from 100 to 1600, and use different exposure-metering options. A 4X zoom can be used, and is viewable through a two-inch LCD touchscreen on the back of the camera.

Battery life for the camera is said to last up to two hours on a single charge, though will only last about 1.5 hours if recording video. Micro SD cards are used to store stills or video footage, up to a 32 GB capacity. An included Wi-Fi remote can control the recording action of the camera. For those using an Android or iOS device, Pyle Audio has an eXpo app that allows users to control the camera through devices with operating systems at version 4.0 or later.

Included with the camera on top of the Wi-Fi remote is a waterproof case with two doors, good for depths up to 190 feet; a bicycle mount, mounting clips and fasteners; a removable battery, and a charging cable.

The Pyle Audio eXpo Hi-Speed HD action camera is available in either a white or black color at a retail price of $250.
