AMD starts private beta of Mantle SDK, launches resources portal

AMD has opened up a software development kit for its Mantle graphics API in a private beta. Mantle, which allows programs to call directly to AMD GPUs and APUs without passing instructions through the CPU beforehand, lowering the need for a powerful processor and bringing PC gaming in line with consoles and their reliance on AMD graphics. AMD has also set up a protected development portal for the API, providing restricted access to various Mantle resources.



Redbox Instant for Android adds Chromecast support

Redbox Instant has updated its Android app with support for the Google Chromecast, as well as a number of bug fixes. Available to download on Google Play, Version 1.5.1 of the app will now allow movies bought or rented through the streaming service to be shown on the Chromecast rather than a tablet or smartphone.
