Select Nvidia cards to come bundled with Ubisoft's cyber thriller title
Nvidia has announced a new software bundle for customers who purchase select Nvidia GeForce GTX video cards, starting on April 29. While more recent bundles have focused on free-to-play games, the newest bundle offers customers a copy of Ubisoft's Watch_Dogs when it releases on May 27. Consumers that purchase a GTX 780 Ti, 780, 770 or 760 card will be eligible for the promotion.
For customers looking to take advantage of the offer, online retailers such as Amazon and Newegg currently list the bundle, which also extends to add-in cards from companies such as EVGA. PC companies such as Origin PC and iBuyPower are also listed as participating in the promotion.
Steam in-home streaming goes to latest client open beta build
Steam's in-home streaming has been pushed to open beta for all users who opted into the client beta program for the gaming software. The update, dated yesterday, allows Steam users to stream games from one PC to another within a home network. A computer in one room, that may not have the processing capability or operating system requirements to run a game, will now be able to use a host machine in another room within the network to process the game. Steam becomes a pass-through for audio, video and input commands.
Steam recommends that the host machine running the game has at minimum a quad-core CPU with a graphics card that supports accelerated H.264 decoding. The company also recommends that any streaming be done over a wired network for an optimum experience.
