Kobo to partner with McDonald's in UK to give away children's e-books
E-reader company Kobo announced this week that it has partnered with McDonald's in the UK to offer children free e-books. Delivered in the form of a voucher, parents who purchase a Happy Meal for their child can download a free children's e-book that is compatible with a variety of electronic devices and operating systems. The new program is a part of McDonald's "Happy Readers" campaign, and ties in with Enid Bluton's Secret Seven series of children's books. Six short stories from the collection will be available in McDonald's locations, with two additional Secret Seven and Famous Five e-books will also be available using a £1 book voucher (also found on the Happy Meal box), redeemable as WHSmith or Eason stores. The free e-book promotion will run at McDonald's locations throughout the UK until June 3.
