Leak on sony Google+ page claimed as mistake, reveals software bundle

Sony could be offering the Xperia Z2 smartphone through Verizon in the future, according to a leaked image, though this may not be the case. Sony denies the rumor, which is based on a photograph uploaded to the company's official Google+ page before being taken down, claiming the posting was a mistake, and reiterating its already-confirmed release plans for the United States this summer.

The Google+ image shows the Z2 with Verizon branding at the top, and based on the disclaimer text directly naming the device and describing its water and dust-proofing, is likely to form part of a larger advertising item. Shortly after the page's removal, Android Central received a statement over the image, apologizing "for any confusion this may have caused."

The Xperia Z2 has a 5.2-inch Full HD Triluminos display, backed by a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon processor with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. On the back is a 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS camera with 4K video capture and 120fps HD video recording capabilities, with connectivity including LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, MHL, and NFC, powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

Sony has also revealed buyers of the Xperia Z2 will receive a collection of services and content said to be worth $350. Smartphone customers will receive full versions of Garmin's app suite and OfficeSuite Pro, 50GB of Box storage, three months of 1TB Bitcasa storage and Evernote Premium, a month of Social Live Premium, ten Xperia themes, and three additional games and apps. The bundle can be collected by Xperia Z2 owners before July 31st, with owners of the Xperia Z1s and Xperia Z1 also able to claim part of the collection.
