Opera 21 for Windows, Mac adds hardware acceleration

Mac acceleration uses Core Animation

Opera has released a significant update to its web browser, v21, for Windows and Mac users. The Windows edition adds Opera's new "Aura" hardware acceleration technology, improving the speed and response of the interface. While the Mac software lacks Aura, Opera says it has achieved similar results using OS X 's Core Animation.

Other improvements include the option to display the full URL in the address field, instead of a truncated version showing just the domain and site security badge. A number of compatibility and stability fixes have been made; the former include scaling for screens with 200 percent DPI in Windows, and better performance for Mac keyboards when using web apps. Opera 21 is a free download.
