Smart plug allows control of electronic devices through Android and iOS devices

A new home product from D-Link offers users the ability to control electronic devices at the wall-socket level, through a smartphone or tablet. The Wi-Fi Smart Plug is the company's "first product in a new line of connection home solutions designed to bring the convenience and flexibility of mydlink to everyday household electronic devices."

Features of the smart plug include the ability to schedule times for power on/off, the ability to control devices via the mydlink app and the ability to monitor statistics of a device using the plug. A side feature of the plug allows for a plugged-in device to be turned off if it begins overheating.

D-Link's Smart Plug app will be compatible with both Android and iOS.

Origin PC offers buyers free Tegra Note 7 tablets for limited time

Gaming computer builder Origin PC is promoting a special offer for customers who buy any of their desktop or laptop machines in the near future. To celebrate the release of Watch_Dogs and the ctOS mobile companion application for Android devices, Origin is throwing in an EVGA Tegra Note 7 tablet. The EVGA Tegra tablets feature seven-inch displays powered by the Nvidia Tegra 4 processor with 32 GB of expandable storage.

Customers wishing to take advantage of the deal can order any one of Origin's gaming solutions including the Chronos, Genesis or Millennium desktops or any of the three Eon laptop models. The offer is listed as available "while supplies last."

Origin PC CEO Kevin Wasielewski says that the promotion came out of the anticipation of playing Ubisoft's upcoming game with a friend. "Now whether they own an Origin PC or not, you can still play competitively online with your friends using the new EVGA Tegra Note 7 tablet that comes free with your Origin PC."
