Second FCC commissioner concerned about upcoming net neutrality vote

Commissioner Pai issues statement on proposal, spectrum auction more important

Another FCC commissioner has stepped forward with concerns over Chairman Tom Wheeler's proposed plans over net neutrality. Commissioner Ajit Pai issued a brief statement, stating that the proposal shouldn't be the topic of the commission's meeting this month.

Pai's statement spoke of his wish to delay a vote on the proposed net neutrality plan, similar to statements from Commissioner Rosenworcel issued earlier. While Pai's released statement was much shorter than Rosenworcel's, it still echoes the some of the same sentiment as others involved in the vote have offered in the last two days.

"I have grave concerns about the Chairman's proposal on Internet regulation, and do not believe that it should be considered at the Commission's May meeting," says Pai. He believes that the commission should be looking toward the spectrum incentive auction in the next week. Thoughts on the specifics of the matter aren't mentioned in detail in the statement, but he has been known for his conservative view (which is to say, broadly against) net neutrality in the past.

With Pai's statement, all four commissioners have now spoken against the proposal on net neutrality in one fashion or another. Both Pai and Rosenworcel proposed, at minimum, a delay in the vote. Commissioners Clyburn and O'Reilly have both released statements questioning the authority of the FCC in the decision.

Yay! Maybe they'll take a look at the down side of this before ramming it through.
