Executive will still oversee 'long-term design strategy' after move
Amidst general disdain for the Galaxy S5 design, and following the second part of Apple versus Samsung's smartphone patent battle, Samsung Electronics' head of mobile design has resigned. Chang Dong-hoon has stepped down from his post, and will be replaced by the Vice President for Mobile Design, Lee Min-hyouk.
Samsung said in a statement that "the realignment will enable Chang to focus more on his role as head of the Design Strategy Team, the company's corporate design center, which is responsible for long-term design strategy across all of Samsung's businesses, including Mobile Communications."
Chang was instrumental in the design of the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, and the Galaxy Note 2. The Galaxy S5 back case was generally panned by reviewers as appearing too much like a band-aid, and not being dynamic enough.
