Tado launches Kickstarter pre-order of its new smart thermostat for air conditioners
Tado has announced the launch of its new product that offers smart technology to existing air conditioning units. The Tado Cooling thermostat is an Internet-connected device that works with most remote-controlled air conditioning systems, including those that are wall-hanging, in-window, or portable. The Tado Cooling is wall-mounted, connects to the Internet via Wi-Fi, and replaces the air conditioner's remote. Combined with its accompanying smartphone app and geo-location, the thermostat can detect when the home dweller leaves the house, and automatically turns off the air conditioning, and can turn it back on when they return. The device has an LED display with a capacitative touch interface, and uses Bluetooth to detect household members so as to turn on or off air conditioning in each room accordingly. Available pre-order pledges for acquiring one's own Tado Cooling is priced at $100.
