LG fitness tracker, health-monitoring earphones launching soon

LG is bringing two health-related wearable devices to market, items that have been previously rumored. The Lifeband Touch is a wrist-based fitness tracker, while the Heart Rate Earphones will combine audio playback with health monitoring, with both devices able to synchronize with a mobile app for Android and iOS, as well as LG's own smartphone collection.

The Lifeband Touch, shipping in three sizes, combines a triple-axis accelerometer and an altimeter for tracking activities, with its motion-sensing algorithm automatically turning on the 0.9-inch 128x32 OLED display. Connecting over Bluetooth 4.0, the band will also provide notification of incoming calls and messages and playlist control, and uses a 90-mAh battery that is said to last for up to five days between charges. While it can use LG's own LG Fitness app, it will apparently also function with other popular fitness apps, such as MyFitnessPal, Runkeeper, and MapMyFitness.

The Heart Rate Earphones will work in tandem with the Lifeband Touch, but it will also connect directly to a smartphone using its separate clip-on Bluetooth 3.0-enabled medallion, and uses a 200mAh battery. While it can be used to listen to music or take voice calls, the earphones can also use its PerformTek sensor technology to monitor the user, and can provide audible feedback on the heart rate and VO2 levels in real time.

If it's made by LG, you know it will be junk.
