Google adds over 17,000 UK public transport routes to Google Maps
Google Maps has been updated to include the majority of transport routes in the United Kingdom. Over 17,000 routes have been added to the app, according to The Next Web, including data for buses, trams, coaches, trains, underground services, and ferries in the country, with details for scheduling, stops, walking between stations, and other information also provided. The update will be appearing on the Google Maps site, Android, and iOS apps today.
Google Chromecast heads to Asia with South Korean launch
The Google Chromecast has been made available in South Korea, marking its first foray into Asia. Google has partnered with Korean streaming services Tving and Hoppin to provide content for the HDMI dongle, sold for 49,900 won ($49), including streams of movies and popular TV shows. In explanation for why South Korea was chosen to be first to receive the Chromecast in the region, Google advises over 80 percent of YouTube views in the country were from mobile devices, higher than the 40 percent global average, suggesting the country could be a good fit with the streaming media player.
