Portable Sony Bluetooth speakers use ClearAudio+ processing

Sony has launched a pair of compact wireless speakers shipping in Europe in the near future. The Srs-X2 Wireless Speaker is billed as an audio device that is portable enough for use outside, while the SRS-X3, meant for home use, is a squarer device that shares the "definitive outline" design of its larger stablemates, the SRS-X9, X7, and X5.

The SRS-X3, weighing 850g (1.8 pounds,) uses a pair of passive radiators working with its 20-Watt full range speakers for its "impressive bass sound," with ClearAudio+ processing helping make the produced sound as clear as possible. Connecting over Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and NFC, the unit can provide up to seven hours of playback using its built-in battery, with charging via microUSB, and can also be used as a speakerphone.

The smaller 500-gram (1.1 pounds) SRS-X2 opts for a curved outline with the same beveled edges as the SRS-X2. With ClearAudio+ included, the 20W speakers use bass-reflex and have a wider range of sound. Connections over NFC and Bluetooth 3.0 are included, as well as an audio-in socket, with its similar microUSB-charged battery giving it a five-hour battery life.
