Vimeo announces "Copyright Match" system, automatically removes copyright-infringing videos

Online video service Vimeo announced this week that it is introducing a new feature that automatically removes copyright-infringing content from its site. Emphasizing the original aim of hosting original content, the "Copyright Match" system will utilize a copyright identification system that samples an audio clip and attempts to match it with certain third-party copyrighted material. Users who feel that their content has been unjustifiably taken down can apply for Vimeo's appeals process to argue for the qualification of "fair use."
