Report updates rumored extra HTC One M8 models with higher-resolution screens
HTC's upscaled versions of the One M8, currently rumored as the M8 Prime and Ace, could in fact be two devices under different names, according to a report. Two device variants are touted in a new rumor, with the "Plus" model likely to be the previously-named Prime, while the "Advance" will be a low-cost model using a plastic case instead of metal.
Sources of 9to5google claim the Plus will have a 2560x1440-resolution display of an unknown size, equaling that of the LG G3. While the Prime rumor and renders claimed it would still have HTC's Duo Camera system, the report claims it will instead have a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization. Just as rumored earlier, it will apparently have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM, and while it is claimed to have some level of water resistance, it is not clear if it will use the aluminum and liquid silicone composite suggested previously.

The Advance, effectively taking the place of the M8 Ace in the report, will allegedly have the same specifications as the Advance model, except that it will use a plastic housing. The earlier Ace rumor suggested it would have the same specification as the normal M8, and would not ship with a Duo Camera. Both the new and older rumors agree that the smartphone would be sold primarily in Asia.

The report's source suggests HTC will attempt to bring both devices to market in August or early September, in a bid to beat Apple's next iPhone to launch.
