Zenbook NX500 can show 4K image on 15.6-inch screen

Asus introduced two new devices capable of displaying a 4K-resolution image at Computex today. The Zenbook NX500 continues the notebook line, and is a 15.6-inch Ultrabook running Windows 8.1 with a 3840x2160-resolution display, while the ProArt Monitor PA328Q has the same resolution in a 32-inch 16:9 screen, in a monitor aimed at professionals using desktop computers.

The Zenbook NX500 has an IPS display with a 100-percent NTSC, 108-percent Adobe RGB color gamit and a factory-calibrated color temperature, packed into a unibody aluminum case. Processor options extend to a quad-core Intel Core i7 chip, supported by an Nvidia GTX 850M GPU with 2GB of GDDR5 memory, and up to 16GB of RAM. Options for SATA 3 RAID 0 or PCIe x4 SSD storage, Wi-Fi connectivity, and titanium-film speakers using SonicMaster and ICEpower Bang & Olufsen audio technology are also included.

The 32-inch ProArt monitor has a pixel density of 138ppi, has a contrast ratio of 100 million:1, 350cd/m² brightness, and a 100% sRGB color gamit. The 10-bit display can produce 1.07 billion colors, with a 14-bit internal lookup table said to provide smoother graduations. Four USB 3.0 ports, two HDMI ports, a Mini DisplayPort and a full-size DisplayPort connections are included, along with built-in functions for picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture to view multiple sources on the same display.
