Rugged Cat B15Q has 4-inch WVGA display, water and dust resistance
Cat, producers of heavy-duty industrial equipment, has unveiled an updated version of its existing B15 rugged Android smartphone. Just like the B100 featurephone, the Cat B15Q is a robust smartphone clad in aluminum and shock-absorbent rubber, allowing it to survive a 1.8-meter (5 feet 10 inches) drop onto concrete and being submerged to a depth of 1 meter (3 feet 3 inches) for 30 minutes, as well as offering dust and scratch resistance.
Using a 4-inch WVGA display with Gorilla Glass 2 protection and wet finger tracking, the B15Q runs Android KitKat on a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek processor with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of expandable storage. On the back is a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus, with a front-facing VGA version, with Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and 3G connectivity, GPS, and a 2,000mAh removable battery.
Cat is making the B15Q available from early July, shipping initially to the United Kingdom, though pricing information has yet to be released.
