Firefox 30 gets Sidebars button, several Android additions

updated 03:34 pm EDT, Tue June 10, 2014

Mac users get new keyboard shortcut

Mozilla has released Firefox 30 for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android users. Despite the version number, 30 is a relatively minor update. The main addition in the desktop versions is a Sidebars button, which makes it easier to reach the Social, Bookmark, and History sidebars. Mozilla has also added support for GStreamer 1.0 -- a library for constructing graphs of media-handling components -- and a Command-E shortcut for Mac users that can be used to search for selected text.

The Android app now has Quickshare buttons in the context menu, and lets people add web content to homescreen panels. Several new localizations have been added: Belarusian, Indonesian, Latvian, Malay, and Argentinian and Mexican Spanish.

Each edition of the update is a free download.
