Best Buy offering 'College Tech Savings' on Apple hardware

updated 09:11 pm EDT, Tue June 17, 2014

Discounts require a eduction-institutional email address; sale runs through July 12

From now until July 12, US students and others who have an "edu" email address tied to a recognized educational institution will see significant savings on Macs and iOS hardware from Best Buy. The retailer's "College Tech Savings" features a number of single-use coupons that take $150 off MacBooks and Macs, and $50 off iPads. The coupons apply to any capacity or model of MacBook, iMac or iPad available through the retailer's site or in-store, though sales tax applies in nearly all cases.

The offer is only extended to those with legitimate ".edu" email addresses, and only used on current-model new equipment. Depending on the online site or store's sale pricing, a base-model 11-inch MacBook Air could be purchased for as little as $650, while a 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad mini with Retina Display could cost as little as $330. Buyers must verify their ".edu" email address through email confirmation, then the printable (or usable online) coupons in the promotion will be sent to the EDU address.
