Resolution increase, faster processor in South Korean Galaxy S5 update

Samsung has unveiled an updated version of the Galaxy S5 smartphone in its native home country, South Korea. The Galaxy S5 LTE-A edition borrows a large number of upgrades rumored to exist in the "Prime" Samsung Galaxy F version of the handset, with the main change being compatibility with LTE-A, allowing it to have a top connection speed of 225Mbps.

Just like the LG G3, Droid-Life reports the Galaxy S5 LTE-A has a 1440x2560-resolution Super AMOLED display, though its 5.1-inch size gives it a pixel density of 557 pixels per inch, far higher than the 538ppi in the 5.5-inch competitor. While it keeps the size and features of the original Galaxy S5, it does borrow the 2.5Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 from the Prime specification list, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The rear 16-megapixel camera is identical to the Galaxy S5, lacking the rumored optical image stabilization upgrade in the Prime, with it also having a 2MP front-facing version, a 2,800mAh battery, heart rate monitor, and a fingerprint scanner.

The launch of a South Korea-specific version of a smartphone has been done a number of time in the past by Samsung. Though this does not guarantee this specific smartphone will resurface in other markets, a Quad HD display model certainly points towards a possible Prime release in the future.
