New version 3.8 adds ability to connect friends during road trips, more

Navigation and traffic app Waze (free) has updated to version 3.8 for both Android and iOS today, including a redesigned main menu and more integration between the app and a users' contacts. With permission, the app can sync "Waze friends" with one's contact list, which can be useful if a group of people in separate vehicles are heading to the same destination.

Users can send their location and driving route to multiple friends, allowing them to track progress and even see an estimated time of arrival. Users can also share an address with a friend that sends a Waze link with directions. As a result, the update also changes the way users send and receive friend requests.

Netflix rolls out new branding on iOS apps, Apple TV

Netflix's new logo is now on display on its channel in Apple TV as well as on the iOS version of the app, following a minor update to version 6.0 on Wednesday. The iOS version also adds the usual bug fixes and performance enhancements, as well as faster video playback and minor design changes. The Apple TV version changes nothing apart from the logo, and will appear automatically on users' televisions. The iOS app is free, but as with the Apple TV version, a subscription is required to use the video-on-demand service.
