Online account payments, activation, upgrades failing on Verizon
Verizon Wireless is currently undergoing a serious outage affecting its payment systems, according to customer reports on Twitter. The widespread issues, affecting customers of the carrier over the last 24 hours, is leaving subscribers unable to make online bill payments and is preventing some from being able to upgrade their devices or activate lines on the network.
A company spokesperson confirmed to The Verge that Verizon is aware of the issue, which is affecting customers in the northeast, midwest, and some southern states, but did not advise when the issue would be resolved, nor what the cause of the issue actually is. Retail stores also confirm there to be problems with Verizon's account system, with some locations also reportedly having issues activating and upgrading in-store.
Normal network services and phone functions, including calls, text messages, and data, remain functional, with the issues seemingly only affecting the online account system.
