New collection of entry-level Android smartphones have similar specifications

Samsung has unveiled a group of four new smartphones destined for the entry-level mobile device market. All four devices, the Galaxy Core II, Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Ace 4, and Galaxy Young 2, use Samsung's Touchwiz interface on Android 4.4 and have relatively similar, if basic specifications, though there are still some slight differences between the smartphones.

Following on from the original Galaxy Core, the Galaxy Core II has a 4.5-inch WVGA display, powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of expandable storage. On the back is a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, with a VGA version on the front, connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and 3G, and it has a 2,000mAh battery.

Differing from the rest and an upgrade from its predecessor, the Galaxy Ace 4 will be available in two variants. The 3G model has a dual-core 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and a 1,500mAh battery, while the LTE version gets a speed boost to 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and a larger 1,800mAh battery. Both use identical 4-inch WVGA screens, 4GB of storage with microSD expansion, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, along with the same 5-megapixel and VGA-resolution camera combination.

The Galaxy Young 2 is a 3G device with a 3.5-inch HGVA TFT display. Running on a single-core 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM, the Galaxy Young 2 has 4GB of expandable storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, a rear 3-megapixel camera, and a 1,300mAh battery. The Galaxy Star 2 has identical specifications, except its rear camera is downgraded to 2-megapixels.
