Verizon rumored to add LTE to prepaid Allset plans from July 17

Prepaid service will apparently include LTE without changes to price plans

Verizon is getting close to providing its prepaid customers with LTE service, with an upgrade scheduled for later this month, according to a report. The company's Allset prepaid plans, launched in March, will allegedly start to use the company's 4G LTE network from July 17th, providing customers using the 3G-only service a considerable speed boost.

Droid-Life reports the carrier will start selling new LTE-capable devices through its prepaid offering, with the LG G2 being touted as one of the new items being sold when LTE is introduced to Allset. Certified pre-owned devices and existing Verizon LTE smartphones will also be allowed on the service.

Allegedly, Verizon will keep the pricing of Allset the same, regardless of whether customers will use 3G or LTE connections. Currently, Verizon offers two main Allset plans, with $35 per month providing 500 minutes, unlimited texts, and 500MB of data, and a $45 plan adding unlimited voice calls. Customers needing more data can buy a Bridge Data bundle, which will not only start being used once the monthly allocation is used up, but will also roll over between months until the bundle is used up or it expires. The three packs range from a $5 500MB upgrade lasting for 30 days, and a $20 3GB bundle that runs for as many as 90 days. Customers signing up to Autopay also receive an extra 500MB monthly allowance.
