Electronista and MacNN staff deal picks for July 11, 2014

Another week, another episode of "Friday Deals!" Every Friday, we're going to take a look at sales, and bring you what we think are some of the best bargains on prime apps, gadgets, and peripherals for you, the discriminating MacNN and Electronista reader. All prices are verified at the time of publication, but any sales may not be valid if you're reading a few days down the line. Check pricing before you click buy!

Hardware

Dell has a PlayStation 4 bundle, including a three-month Plus subscription, inFamous: Second Son, and a $100 Dell gift card for $450. MLB 14: The Show can be substituted for inFamous: Second Son. The gift card shows up after the bundle is loaded into the user's cart. While certainly not the lowest price we've seen for the console only, the game and gift card add to the value of the bundle significantly.

Newegg has a sale on the Crucial M500 mSATA 480GB SSD. Using coupon code "MASTERPASS23" and using the Master Pass checkout system, users will see a 10 percent discount, bringing the drive's price to $179 ($0.37 per GB). This is the lowest price we've seen on this SSD by $55.

For traditional hard drives, TigerDirect.com is offering the 3TB USB 3.0 WD Elements hard drive for a final price of $99 after coupon code SBA133123 is applied. The drive normally lists for $160.

Accessories

Staples has the LifeProof Nuud protective case for the iPad Mini (first or second generations) on steep sale. The white case that we reviewed here and the same case in black is on sale for $30, far less than we've ever seen.

Gamers we know swear by the Turtle Beach line of game headphones -- but they can be pricey. A good introduction to the lineup is a cheaper, wired headset. Best Buy has the Ear Force X12 Arctic Edition Gaming Headset for Xbox 360 and Windows on sale for $50, $20 off the regular retail price.

Applications

Did you know that yesterday was the sixth anniversary of the Apple iOS App Store? Yeah, we did too. There isn't anything going on in the way of formal celebration, but a few developers are running sales anyhow. Stealth platformer Stealth Inc. has been cut to $1 from $5. Bookmark curator Pinswift has also been marked down to $1 from $5. In-app purchase-laden Assassin's Creed Pirates is now free, and used to be $5. Use the cash you saved to buy in-game gold!

Translation app iTranslate has launched for OS X, and is currently half price at $5. If you're a casual game lover, you can't go wrong with Playrix's The Rise of Atlantis HD (Premium)) for iPad for $1 (normally $7). Be aware that it does cost another $5 to unlock the full game, but for fans of quest-meets-puzzle games, this one is a well-done delight and well worth it.

Music education tool Capo 3 has a unique way to teach the user how to play popular songs -- it slows the user's iTunes music on OS X, automatically detecting chords and quickly generating guitar tablature using a detailed spectrogram. The app has recently launched and is $15, half of the $30 full price it will revert to next week.
