Averages 2.3 days to process and deliver, beating Amazon, clothing stores
Customer service analytics company StellaService has released a new report that ranks Apple as number one for online delivery speed, up from an eighth-place ranking in April. The iPhone maker captured the top spot for the first time in June with an average processing-and-delivery time of just 2.3 days, beating mostly online clothing outlets such as Abercrombie, Zappos, Nike and others. In a separate study that ranked all aspects of customer service, Apple was topped by J. Crew and Mr Porter.
In both studies, Apple was alone among tech companies in fast deliveries and high customer satisfaction, with fashion retail sites taking most of the top spots. Following Apple in the fastest delivery rankings were American Eagle Outfitters, Cap, UnderArmour and H&M, reports AppleInsider. In the overall customer satisfaction survey, Apple's third-place rating (up from seventh in April) was followed by Ralph Lauren and L.L Bean. Amazon was not amongst the top 10 companies in either survey, though baby supply service Diapers.com made the top 10 in both.
The average overall processing-and-shipping times for the top 25 online retailers was 3.1 days, accounting for the wide swings in rankings from month-to-month due to the highly competitive nature of online delivery. Other factors beyond simply postal times were also considered, including package quality and fit and the original estimate of delivery time. StellaService says it uses "e-commerce analysts" to test and quantify the speed and quality of online orders, including how well the companies handle returns and refunds.
The overall customer service survey measured interaction using email, phone calls and live chat over the course of the past three months. Apple dropped precipitously in satisfaction rankings across the spring, falling from seventh place in April to dropping out of the top 25 entirely in May before rebounding to third place overall in June.
