Bendable Ultra HD television can switch from flat to curved screen using motors

A television capable of moving from a flat display to a curved screen is being made available for pre-orders in South Korea. Samsung's Bendable Ultra HD TV is able it switch between flat and curved on its own, with motors on each side of the television pushing the edges out to create the concave shape, as well as pulling the display back to its flat form.

The version being sold by Samsung is a 78-inch model, reports Engadget, smaller than an 85-inch model shown at CES earlier this year. Capable of showing a 4K-resolution image, it includes Samsung's UHD Dimming for improved contrast and color, while its Crystal Black Panel helps with picture quality at low brightnesses.

Pricing for the self-curving television is unknown, but it will apparently go on display in two stores in Seoul, South Korea, with pre-orders starting tomorrow. International availability of the bendable television was not announced by the company, though it did recently put a curved 105-inch Ultra HD television on sale in the United States for $120,000, something which suggests Samsung could do the same with this model.
