Could mean new iPhones shipping on Sept. 19th

Apple has scheduled an iPhone press event for September 9, according to Re/Code's John Paczkowski. No other details have been mentioned, but Paczkowski has had a reliable track record. He repeats widespread expectations that Apple will be announcing 4.7- and 5.5-inch iPhones based on A8 processors.

Given that Apple has taken to launching iPhones the second weekend after their introduction, that could mean that new models will be available as soon as September 19. Several reports have suggested that the 5.5-inch phone has been delayed, however, which could mean it won't ship until October or even November.

Size is expected to be the phones' main selling point. They could however adopt technologies like 802.11ac Wi-Fi and NFC, the latter of which might form the basis of a new mobile payment system. It's also believed that Apple may choose to increase default storage capacity, and/or use sapphire cover glass, though recent signs have pointed to Apple saving sapphire for camera lenses and Touch ID sensors, as with the iPhone 5s.

NFC??? NFC?? Really?? Come on.. it was doomed before it took off, and is a flop! And Apple has clearly stated that NFC is to weak, bad and short range. Apple is ALL about iPass and iBeacon.

    Stop being foolish, now...
