Reports of tipping televisions prompts Vizio recall, replacement
Vizio has started to recall a number of large HD televisions over safety issues regarding supplied stands. A posting from the Consumer Product Safety Commission advises Vizio is replacing the stand supplied with the 39-inch and 42-inch models of the E-Series televisions, with the recall affecting approximately 245,000 televisions sold between December 2013 and June.
Engadget notes there have been 51 reports of the televisions tipping over, though no reported instances of injury. Affected customers are requested to detach the stand, place the television in a safe location, and contact Vizio's customer care for a replacement stand, with owners of wall-mounted televisions also requested to take part in the recall, in case they need the stand in the future.
Vizio also extending its standard one-year limited warranty on the affected models to two years.
