Technology will be rolled out gradually to further secure Facebook offerings
Facebook continues its rash of acquisitions, this time purchasing encryption company PrivateCore. The firm specializes in data security through operating system protection on x86 hardware, in-use memory encryption, and prevention of unauthorized physical access to hardware. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
PrivateCore CEO Oded Horovitz said of the acquisition that "what makes this development so exciting for us is that Facebook and PrivateCore have an aligned mission. Facebook has done more than any company to connect the world, and we want to use our secure server technology to help make the world's connections more secure."
The technology that PrivateCore brings will be slowly implemented into Facebook systems. The company is expected to continue to function as an independent entity.
