New Galaxy Tab 4 Nook to be shown, likely discussion of partnership details
Samsung and Barnes & Noble have scheduled a joint event in New York City on August 20 to discuss the pair's partnership, and further show off the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. The event will be held in the Barnes & Noble store in Union Square, with few concrete details of discussion topics beyond the Samsung tablet variant.
Barnes & Noble's e-book reader, the Nook GlowLight, is excluded from the partnership, but will continue to be sold. It is the last in the line of Nooks made by Barnes & Noble, as the bookseller has exited the hardware production business with its partnership with Samsung.
B&N has previously indicated it wanted to cease Nook tablet production and switch to a licensing model. Reports suggested Microsoft was considering a purchase of the entire Nook Media arm, with the relationship between the two companies changing in March to allow Nook Media to end the Windows Phone app development in order to work on the Microsoft Consumer Reader instead.
