Slim Alienware gaming notebook due for release before end of year

Dell has unveiled another gaming notebook under the Alienware brand, with a smaller display compared to others in the range. The Alienware 13 has a selection of 13-inch displays to fit it out with, including a touch-enabled 2560x1440 IPS panel with 400 nits of brightness, a 1080p 350-nit version, and at the low-end, a 720p-resolution screen with 200 nits of brightness.

Measuring under an inch thick, Forbes reports the device weighs 4.4 pounds, includes AlienwareFX lighting, and packs an internal copper thermal cooling system to deal with heavy processing loads, Using a Haswell-based Intel processor with up to 16GB of RAM depending on configuration, it will also house an Nvidia 860M GPU, Klipsch audio, up to two SSDs for storage, Wi-Fi, and the choice of Windows 7 Professional instead of Windows 8.

Dell is aiming to start shipping the Alienware 13 by the holidays, but has yet to reveal final pricing and processor options.
