Small form-factor computer ships in November, priced at $549 and up
Dell's Alienware division has launched preorders for its "Steam Machine," absent Valve's operating system. Dubbed the Alienware Alpha, an i3-4130T 2.9GHz-based version of the device retails for $599 and will ship with Windows 8.1, with the ability to install the SteamOS should it see the light of day in a timely fashion.
The other specifications come in exactly as rumored. The computer base configuration has the Haswell-based i3 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive. Graphics are driven by a custom Nvidia chipset, the performance of which is not yet known.
An i5-4590T 3.0Ghz quad-core version with 8GB of memory, and a 1TB hard drive sell for $800, with an i7-4765T quad-core 3.0Ghz version with a 2TB drive topping out at $900. The estimated ship date on all configurations is November 21.
