LG updates earlier Wi-Fi G Pad 8.0 with LTE connectivity

A few months after launching its G Pad range, LG has started to ship one of the tablets with LTE connectivity built in. The LG G Pad 8.0 LTE is identical to the earlier Wi-Fi variant in terms of specification and functionality, except for the inclusion of LTE radios, and comes shortly after AT&T announced it would be selling the LTE-equipped 7-inch model.

Behind the 8-inch IPS 1280x800 display is a quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, expandable by microSD. On the back is a 5-megapixel camera with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing version, and power comes from its large 4,200mAh battery. Just as with earlier versions, it includes LG's suite of apps and functions, including Knock Code security, a Smart Keyboard said to reduce input errors by up to 75 percent, and Gesture Shot and Touch & Shoot modes for the camera app. LG's Qpair 2.0, also included onboard, will connect to a nearby smartphone over Bluetooth, allowing for calls to be answered and messages sent and received directly from the tablet.

LG is shipping the G Pad 8.0 LTE in "key European countries" from this week, followed by markets in Central and South America, Asia, and CIS. Despite AT&T's G Pad 7.0 LTE sale, there is no mention of whether or not the 8-inch version will be made available in the United States.
