HTC One M8 for Windows Phone shares physical appearance with Android model

Images for what is believed to be the Windows Phone equivalent of the HTC One M8 have leaked, showing what could be HTC's latest foray onto the platform. Said to be called the One M8 for Windows, the displayed smartphone appears to be identical in physical construction to the Android version of the device, except for a Windows Phone logo on the back.

The shots received by Neowin also show Verizon branding, indicating a launch on the carrier, though it is possible it could land on others in the United States shortly afterward. The brushed aluminum appearance of the original M8 remains intact, as well as the Duo Camera system with an UltraPixel sensor, and the HTC Boomsound front-facing stereo speakers.

The rest of the internals are expected to be identical to that of the Android mode, except it will run Windows Phone 8.1 instead. If true, it will use a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz with 32GB of expandable storage and 2GB of RAM, fronted by a five-inch Full HD display. The Dot View case will apparently also receive support in Windows Phone, allowing the user to access Cortana as well as receiving call notifications.

It is likely that HTC will be launching the device at an event in New York tomorrow, one which is being jointly held with Microsoft.
