MetroPCS loosens data caps, expands coverage to 10 new markets

$40 plan doubles data from 500MB to 1GB

T-Mobile-owned MetroPCS has announced several important changes, the most important being the loosening of its 4G data caps. Customers on the carrier's $40-per-month plan are getting their cap raised from 500MB to 1GB. The $50 plan is getting a similar boost, from 2.5GB to 3GB.

MetroPCS is now also accessible in 10 new regions. These include Chicago, Illinois; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Kansas City and St. Louis, in Missouri; Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota; Salt Lake City, Utah; Yakima-Pasco-Richland-Kennewick, Washington; and finally, Richmond-Petersburg and Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newport News in Virginia.
