Sprint Event At CTIA Spring 2011 : March 22, 2011
| |
1:23 - Still waiting for the event to start. Sprint already showed the Nexus S 4G yesterday, so we're expecting a focus on the two new Evo devices and possibly some surprises.

| |
1:28 - As a note, the 2.5-hour length they gave us is probably for hands-on time and eating afterwards; there's a full-service buffet directly behind the stage.
| |
1:33 - Sprint is handing out 3D glasses; in case there was any doubt the Evo 3D is being unveiled, we now have proof.

| |
1:36 - Running a few minutes late, but not surprising given that the entire audience needs glasses.
| |
1:40 - Sprint gave the five-minute notice; it's possible 1:45PM was the target all along.
| |
1:47 - We're now late for the 1:45PM schedule. Hopefully they roll out soon.
| |
1:47 - Program starts in one minute, they say.
| |
1:51 - Show starts; running an intro video in 3D for the HTC Evo 3D. CEO Dan Hesse is up. Evo 4G is HTC's fastest selling device ever. HTC Evo 3D: 540x960 3D display, 4.3-inch.
| |
1:52 - 1.2GHz dual-core processor for multitasking. Combine 3D with the processor and you get a powerful device. Performs like a PC, experience second to none.
| |
1:53 - Capture a vacation in 3D with dual five-megapixel cameras and revisit them in 3D. 3D maps? Android 2.3.
| |
1:54 - Introducing the Evo View 4G. Spectacular. HTC Sense, 1.5GHz Snapdragon (one core), dual cameras. Sense esigned for a tablet. Make video calls, download books, take HD videos. Recapping HTC Scribe (pen input). HDMI on this and the Evo 3D.

| |
1:55 - Not "faux G," 4G. HTC's Mackenzie up.
| |
1:56 - Big day for us. Just a year ago in Vegas for the Evo 4G.
| |
1:58 - Talking about a retired couple that lined up for the Evo 4G; they were in tough times and could use it to replace the home Internet connection. Ham radio expert too who was using it to chat with a nephew in New Zealand.

| |
1:59 - Talking about Sense on the lock screen. Didn't want to just rush a tablet to the market. (Launching apps on the Evo View 4G is faster since you can just drag an app to the lock 'ring' to open it)
| |
2:04 - Another 3D promo video for the Evo 3D. Farid Adib up from Sprint development. Talking about awards the Evo 4G received. Quoting reviews: a phone that can go toe-to-toe with the iPhone.
| |
2:06 - Going 3D because of trends. Millions of 3D TVs shipped in 2010. Could be 91 million by 2014. 3D will move to mainstream.
| |
2:06 - Autostereoscopic 3D display, so you don't need glasses.

| |
2:08 - Important to be able to create 3D video, not just show it. Rolling a promo video showing a couple taking a trip to LA and shooting things in 3D.

| |
2:11 - Comparing the Evo 3D against the iPhone 4, Atrix, and others Sprint of course finds wanting. Closest rivals just have 1GHz processors. Evo 3D's is asynchronous; lets one core ramp down while the other works. That lets it lower power while remaining responsive and improves app launch times.
| |
2:16 - Evo View 4G video up; it's exactly like the Flyer. Notes that it'll move to Android 3.0 later on. Talking about HTC Scribe; lets you write notes on top of things. Audio can be recorded along with handwritten notes. Study at Notre Dame found that the iPad was an ineffective replacement for notes.

| |
2:16 - Show ends. It's hands-on time.
