Project Glass to be higher in field of view according to Google
Google has admitted that its Project Glass wearable display interface currently does not resemble what is shown in the demo video. The admission comes the same day the search giant patents the design of the Project Glass prototypes, showing what a prescription variant would look like.
A spokesman speaking to CNET advised that the information shown by the Google Glasses would appear "about where the edge of an umbrella might be," presumably to allow the user full vision with both eyes for safety reasons. The functions and UI are not finalized either, with simpler interactions and an easier to view interface proving to be more of a priority in development. Photo sharing is currently being used, with Google+ chief Vic Gundotra using the function to share through the social network.
Google has filed the "ornamental design" with the USPTO three times, according to Engadget. Images accompanying the filings show how the Project Glass hardware would work with prescription glasses, with one arm larger than the other to contain the necessary hardware for the device.
Other companies have looked in towards wearable computing, with sunglasses manufacturer Oakley and game developer Valve both expressing interest in the area.
