Three price tiers set
The iPhone 5 that will be showing up at Apple's September 12th event is an "N42" model first identified in May, sources tell 9to5Mac. The unit is said to have features like a 4-inch, 1136x640 display and upgraded processors and RAM. The N42 was reportedly picked over an N41 design, which had NFC technology; recent reports have claimed that the shipping iPhone 5 will indeed skip NFC.
9to5 adds that at a "well-known US retail chain," several codes are listed for the phone: N42A-USA-$199, N42B-USA-$199, N42A-USA-$299, N42B-USA-$299, N42A-USA-$399, and N42B-USA-$399. A and B are said to refer to black and white versions of each price tier. The different costs suggest that Apple will stick with three capacity options, though whether those capacities will increase remains to be seen.
Sources also say that several new accessories are ready to ship alongside the N42. These haven't been identified, but are likely cases, cables, and adapters, the latter two of which are probably redesigns for the iPhone 5's smaller dock connector. Apple could be the initial exclusive vendor of adapters bridging the new connector with older 30-pin accessories and peripherals.

Hmmm... if that's true, I wonder if it's clever. I don't see NFC taking off just yet, but could definitely picture is going mainstream within the next 6-12 months. Not sure if it's a good call to be late to the game or skip this (like Blu-Ray) altogether.
