New products combine 802.11ac with WD's FasTrack

WD, a Western Digital company, announced today the availability of its new My Net AC1300 HD Dual-Band Router and My Net AC Bridge, two new additions to its My Net family of HD dual-band routers. The two new devices combine 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology with WD's own FasTrack technology, which prioritizes high-bandwidth entertainment services in order to improve streaming performance at home.

WD says that its routers are capable of streaming high-definition content to gaming consoles, media players, and more at speeds up to three times faster than wireless-N Wi-Fi. Using dual-band perfomance and FasTrack technology, the My Net AC1300 reduces delays and interference even with multiple devices connected to a network. Setup requires no CD or installation software; it is as simple as plugging the new router in and running the setup with the web browser on any smartphone, tablet, or PC.

The AC1300 includes four Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired devices, as well as two USB 2.0 ports for additional storage. It also features Universal Plug and Play capability, allowing it to easily detect a range of Wi-Fi devices.

The My Net AC Bridge allows customers to convert up to four devices from wired-Ethernet to wireless, giving them AC Wi-Fi speeds. This cuts down on the amount of cabling needed throughout the home but retains the speed of Ethernet access. Setup with the AC Bridge is done by simply pushing the WPS buttons on the bridge and the My Net AC1300 router.

The My Net AC1300 Router is available now at select US retailers and online at WD's store, as is the My Net AC Bridge. The router retails for $190, while the bridge is available for $150.
