AT&T sold over 10 million smartphones during the last quarter, according to an official announcement. The figure surpasses the carrier's previous record, 9.4 million, achieved during the fourth quarter of 2011. The company is also claiming the "best-ever quarterly sales of Android and Apple smartphones," though it isn't providing a breakdown of unit sales.

In a prepared statement, AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega says that the carrier saw about 110,000 smartphones sold per day. He credits the figures to people buying the latest Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone devices.

AT&T will likely reveal more details around January 24th, the date of its quarterly financial results call. Perhaps not coincidentally, that's a day after Apple intends to release its own quarterly results. The timing should allow AT&T to say specifically how many iPhones it sold during the quarter, something Apple normally keeps quiet until results calls or press events.
