BlueBoard connects to Apple devices over Bluetooth

IK Multimedia has announced three new music peripherals, beginning with the iLoud and iLoud Mini, a pair of lithium ion-powered portable speakers. Despite being portable the units are said to have monitor-like accuracy, and significant power. The Mini's output is rated at 12W RMS, while the regular iLoud scales up to 40W RMS.

Users can connect a guitar, bass, or microphone for practices and performances, and for casual listening, stream music to the speakers via Bluetooth. A stereo input jack on each unit supports gear like mixers and MP3 players. The speakers should be out sometime in the second quarter of the year, with prices of $300 for the standard model and $200 for the Mini.

Also due next quarter is the iRig BlueBoard, a MIDI pedalboard. The peripheral connects to a Mac or iOS device via Bluetooth instead of a cable, but should work with any MIDI- or Core MIDI-compatible app. It features four lit switches, and two TRS jacks for adding extra pedals or switches. The BlueBoard will cost $100; it requires four AAA batteries and a Bluetooth 4.0-equipped Mac or iOS device.
