Company starts peppering news outlets with minor items
Apple's public relations office is taking a somewhat more aggressive stance in 2013, notes the Wall Street Journal. The paper points out, for instance, that Apple recently put out a press release for iOS 6.1, a minor OS update; the last release for a non-major iOS update was issued in 2010. Significantly the company has also started sending favorable third-party studies to reporters, such as one predicting that Apple will have as much enterprise acceptance as Microsoft in 2014.
Although it's common for many other companies to bombard the media with minor news, Apple has typically been more reserved, choosing to focus on quarterly results, major product launches, or corporate shakeups. A Journal source claims that the company is simply recognizing more intense competition.

About time...
Apple needs to get its game face on in response to Samsung's all-out media attacks, both subtle and direct.
In fact, I'd encourage Apple to fight fire-with-fire and start blatantly ripping off Samsung's more popular features and promote them as their own...give Samsung a taste of its own medicine.
