Video streamer Vudu reports physical break-in, customer data stolen
According to Vudu, unknown perpetrators broke into the video streamer's office on March 24 and stole a number of items, including hard drives that contained customer information with names, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, account activity, dates of birth, and the last four digits of some credit card numbers. The company has since reset all passwords, and noted that the password database was encrypted.

In a frequently asked questions page, Vudu denies rumors that the site was hacked leading to the data loss, and says that all users should change passwords on Vudu and any other sites that the password and user name are also used. The company is reasonably certain that financial information was not compromised, due to full credit card numbers not being stored at the company offices.

The company has made arrangements for affected users with usernames and passwords prior to the break-in to receive identity protection services from provider AllClear ID at no cost to the user for one year from April 9.
